Sweet P

What’s with Pshaw? It’s an exclamation used to express irritation, disapproval, contempt or disbelief, or so they say. But how is it pronounced? PEE-shaw? Puh-SHAW? I’ve heard both. However my home dictionary (Webster’s Ninth New Collegiate) says it’s just pronounced Shaw. As does dictionary.com and other online sources. But this is wrong. Wrong. WRONG!! Words beginning with P should have a P sound (except for pterodactyl – which doesn’t count because it’s extinct). Personally, I just think the only time you should have a silent P is when there’s someone in the stall next to you and you’re trying to be discreet.
